Letter from Joe's mom, Glyndell
Precious Family and Friends,
This morning the divers located Joe's body inside the plane. At the time of the call there was positive identification of the aircraft, but not positive I.D. of the body, but there is no one else it can be. Divers will retrieve the body and take it for autopsy soon.
We are grateful to the Lord for lifting our uncertainty and giving us a definite answer. We are thankful to know that Joe has been in the presence of God and cared for these three long weeks. God is good and His mercies endure forever. Be comforted in knowing that Joe lived his life to the fullest for the Lord, and was a man after God's own heart. He laid down his life for his God and country. His life's message was "To God Be the Glory!" May God alone be glorified for everything that has transpired. Joe's life verse: Psalms 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." We treasure your continued prayers for our family.
There will be a Navy memorial service Friday, November 20, 2009, at 12 noon at Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, TX.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to an independent trust fund which is being established for Joe's son, Asher. Please contact Tim Parlatore for information on how to proceed.

Our prayers continue for you and your family. It was our pleasure to know Joe when he was at the Naval Academy, and once in our home in Augusta. He was a fine young man. We share your sorrow during these days, but rejoice Joe is with Our Savior.

Dear Glyndell and all of Joe's family and friends - I am so sorry to hear this news. I've been praying for a miracle. My heart is heavy tonight. My prayers are for peace of heart and soul for you and strength for Joe and Bret's colleagues who continue their work.
In love and faith, Susan Seligman (Navy Mom)
We have been praying that Joe would be found. Our prayers and thoughts continue with you all. Joe and our son Andrew were roomates during Phlebe Summer and remained close friends. Joe had been to our home in Virginia many times during the Academy years and was always such a pleasure to be around. RIP Joe....I know that our lives are much richer having known you.

Dear Glyndell,
We have been praying for you these past three weeks. My mom was Joe's kindergarden teacher at BCA in Houston, Texas. I remember his tender heart toward God and how he could pray, even as a little kindergardener. I am so sorry for your loss here on earth, but heaven is now that much sweeter with your precious son there. What an amazing testimony you all are displaying. May God give you strength and comfort.
